Chris has been a leading activist around HIV Insurance issues for over a decade and was the person responsible for the creation of the ‘HIV Sexual Behaviour’ Question on Life Assurance applications asked today. He also co-wrote the Association of British Insurers HIV & Insurance guidelines which oversee the way that gay and HIV people are treated by the Insurance Industry.
He has been at the forefront of gay and HIV financial advice for over a decade looking after clients of Compass, the gay financial advisers www.compassindependent.co.uk and the medical financial adviser Unusual Risks www.unusualrisks.co.uk advising them on their Life Assurance and Mortgage needs, without the fear of discrimination.
Chris is a former Financial Adviser of the Year, Barclays Young Business Person of the Year and finalist in the FT Adviser Mortgage Adviser of the Year contest. He was recently shortlisted at The European Diversity Awards for Barclays Campaigner of Year. This is for his work campaigning for the rights of LGBT and HIV Positive people within the UK Financial Services Industry.
Throughout his career Chris has built a large readership within the gay and HIV press with his articles appearing in many publications such as Baseline, Positive Nation, Gay Times, Pink Paper, Gay.com, Refresh and Attitude. He has also provided many interviews for titles such as The Guardian, The Independent, The Observer, Evening Standard and Money Observer.
He is available as a freelance writer on general financial topics, plus more specialised areas such as Gay finance, HIV finance, Gay Life Assurance, HIV Life Assurance and Life Assurance for those with pre-existing medical conditions. He is also available for comment within both the gay and mainstream press on any of the previously mentioned subjects.
